Korean Tea Gathering
November 08, 2025
A serene journey into the harmony and elegance of Korean tea culture.
On November 8, the New Zealand Institute of Tea Studies hosted a serene and culturally enriching Korean Tea Gathering, inviting guests into the gentle world of Korean tea tradition. The afternoon unfolded in an atmosphere of quiet elegance, where each movement in the brewing and serving process reflected the Korean philosophy of harmony, sincerity, and refined simplicity.
Participants were introduced to the distinctive character of Korean teas — clean in flavour, subtle in fragrance, and deeply calming in spirit. Through the sharing of tea etiquette, historical context, and stories rooted in monastic practice and daily life, guests gained a deeper appreciation for the quiet joy that Korean tea culture embodies.
As the tea was poured and conversations naturally flowed, the room became a space of stillness and connection. What began as a cultural exploration soon evolved into a warm gathering of minds and hearts, where the beauty of presence and the comfort of shared moments were gently felt by all.
The Korean Tea Gathering concluded with a lingering sense of peace, gratitude, and cultural resonance. We thank everyone who joined us and contributed to an afternoon where the simplicity of tea revealed its timeless power to bring people together.
