The beauty of tea lies in a focused heart, and the elegance of the Song Dynasty lingers in every whisked bowl.
On 16 July 2025, the New Zealand Tea Institute hosted an intimate gathering at 23 Glenfell Place, Epsom, to revisit the exquisite art of Song Dynasty Dian Cha. Supported by the Seng Xi Foundation, the event was limited to six guests, offering a serene atmosphere to savour the essence of a thousand years of Chinese tea culture.
Each bowl of whisked tea reflected the refined aesthetics of the Song era, where purity, stillness, and grace found perfect harmony. The quiet rhythm of whisking, the fragrance of fine tea powder, and the subtle conversation among guests together recreated the poetic beauty of an ancient time.
Through this graceful encounter, participants experienced how a single bowl of tea can carry the charm of millennia — transcending time and space to awaken the heart’s calm within.
